WCRC Condemns Abduction of Children in Cameroon

On Sunday, 4 November, nearly 80 children and three staff members were kidnapped from Presbyterian School Bamenda by armed men in northwest Cameroon. This was the second kidnapping of students within the week.

WCRC Europe Addresses Migration

Rev Chris Ferguson, General Secretary of the WCRC, was recently invited to address the General Convent of the Hungarian Reformed Churches in Slovakia and then continued on to Budapest to talk with the RCH about ecumenical accompaniment and the vital work of the church in the wider world.

The General Convent of the Hungarian Reformed Church announced in its meeting in Kosice, Slovakia that a new translation of the Second Helvetic Confession is on its way. Rev Chris Ferguson, General Secretary of WCRC, was also present at the meeting to address the plenary on matters of joint importance to the HRC and the WCRC.

As the migration situation in Europe does not seem to be waning anytime soon, reformed church leaders have continued their commitment to show solidarity for those fleeing to the European Union from conflict zones. As part of the European solidarity, Sabine Dreßler of the Reformed Alliance in Germany talked to Rev. Dimitrios Boukis, general secretary of the Evangelical Church of Greece, about challenges facing not only his church but all of those in Europe. The message posted on WCRC website is clear: The Church should become a real solution.

Mission in Secularized Contexts Seminar

Consultation on Human Trafficking

About twenty delegates and experts from European churches and social organizations met from October 22nd to October 24th in Hanover to discuss the difficult topic of human trafficking. The invitation of this consultation came from the European Area of the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) and the Reformierter Bund in Germany. On behalf of the Reformed Church in Hungary, Rev. Aaron Stevens attended the consultation, who is the minister at St Columba's Church of Scotland in Budapest, English-speaking congregation of RCH.

Youth Event Builds Trust Across Nations

The Starpoint Reformed Youth Festival saw 3,000 Reformed Christian youth from all over the world gather in Tata, Hungary, the third week of July to share their love for life, music, fellowship and God. Duncan MacLean IV, who has been a communications intern at the World Communion of Reformed Churches this summer, attended.
