Newsletter of the RCH - 17 December 2019

Christmas Starts Here

In December, there is a lot of light, sparkle around us and it feels like a fairytale. But what is Christmas really about? What is our Advent like? The RCH Christmas video and communication campaign wishes to remind ourselves of these questions.

A Textbook Case of Love
The celebration lightning is taken down on January, but the light remains. Rev. Levente Sohajda inherited the apiary (bee farm) from his father, and from its revenue they renovated the school, the kindergarden, and the local church. He told us about the mindful holiday preparation, the ways leading to God and experiencing the Good News of Christmas in extreme poverty.

Solidarity amidst Christmas Crowds
For a couple of days, refugee women will be in the centre of attention at a Christmas market in the city centre of Budapest, at the booth of the Diaconal Office of the Reformed Church in Hungary. Zero-waste bags, handmade jewellery and home-made sweets are awaiting the visitors of the Christmas fair.

Reformed Schools’ Campaign for Syria
This year we celebrate the 10 year Reformed Educational Fund that aims to express and strengthen the solidarity within the Hungarian Reformed Community by supporting Reformed educational projects throughout the Carpathian Basin. In gratitude for the past 10 year, now the fund will support the renovation of the Armenian Evangelical School in Damascus.
