2015. április 22., szerda

The Synod of the RCH issued a declaration on the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and on the Protection of the Christians Currently Suffering Persecution at its meeting on 22 April 2015.

Declaration on the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and on the Protection of the Christians Currently Suffering Persecution

The Synod of the Reformed Church in Hungary shares in the mourning of our Armenian brothers and sisters with heartfelt sympathy and remembers that terrible tragedy, the Armenian Genocide, which started 100 years ago and during which more than 1.5 million Armenian were massacred due to their national and religious affiliation in the Ottoman Empire.

In this time of remembrance and sympathy we are also deeply saddened that today our brothers and sisters in Christ are being hindered in practicing their faith by oppression, persecution imprisonment or even murder. We are protesting again this incomprehensible inhumanity and persecution.

We call on all our brothers and sisters, especially those who by the grace of God are spared, to turn to the Almighty God in prayer and keep devotions and intercessions for their fellow Christians and their life in peace.

We ask every people of good will to stop violence with all their might.

We also ask the responsible leaders of the nations to prevent danger and defend the people entrusted to them in order that no one be discriminated against on account of their nationality or religious belief.
