Teach Overseas Closes its Doors after 33 Years

The Teach Overseas program has been sending native English speakers to Hungary for more than 20 years. Most recently this connection has been manifested through the organization’s relationship with the Refugee Ministry of the Reformed Church in Hungary.

U.S. Teachers Excited to Teach in Hungarian Refugee Camps

The RCH is filled with joy to welcome a group of 10 U.S. teachers to Hungary from the Teach Overseas program. They will spend the summer teaching English at refugee camps in Debrecen, Bicske, Fót and at the Refugee Mission's new community center in Budapest.

Ten teachers spent five weeks in the Bicske and Debrecen Refugee Reception Centres, in the Children's Centre in Fót, in the English Language Bible Study Camp organised by the Scottish Mission in Budapest and with the Roma Ministry in Jánd. The programme was a collaboration between the Synod Office of the Reformed Church in Hungary, the Refugee Mission of the Reformed Church in Hungary and the Educational International Service. Just like in the past years, the project involved English lessons in groups, with the aim to give refugees a better chance in the job market.
