The church prepares for these events with a heart focused on its mission and motto, "Ambassadors for Christ," a statement that finds its Biblical foundation in Paul's second letter to the Corinthians (2 Cor. 5:19-20). The RCH feels that Paul's message emphasizes the direction of the national church's work and gives a guiding framework for the service of Hungarian Reformed congregations. In 2012, the RCH created a working plan that highlights the most important missions for different committees and departments throughout the church. This document serves as a type of road map for the upcoming year, reminding everyone to keep efforts centered and directed toward the church's overall mission. It puts the tasks into perspective by holding the ultimate goal in view, so God's mission remains in the forefront and is not lost in the background.

As the church prepares for the next year, it looks at the legacy and special significance of the Heidelberg Catechism. The RCH believes that the rediscovery of the Heidelberg Catechism as one of the church's most important confessions and the examination of its contemporary message directly relates to the essential identity and service of a church as an "Ambassador for Christ."
