Church in conflict zone

Sándor Zán-Fábián Bishop of the Reformed Church in Transcarpathia, the Hungarian speaking community living in the Western part of Ukraine, will be one of the delegates of the Hungarian Reformed Church and honour guest, contributing to Kirchentag. He will participate at a round table discussion, together with his Lutheran colleague, Serge Maschewski, Bishop of the German Evangelical Church in Ukraine (GELCU) in the Hall of the booth of the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE). The discussion under the theme “Church in the Ukrainian Conflict – What bears the Church” will take place on 5 June at 4.30.

Bishop Zán also participates in two special worship services. The international Reformed service “A call to the heart – a call to the world” with ecumenical guests from around the world will be celebrated in the “Schlosskirche” on June 4 at 11 AM. Sermon will be given by Christopher Ferguson, general secretary of the World Communion of Reformed Churches. The special German-Hungarian communion worship will take place in the “Pauluskirche” in Fellbach on 5 June at 7 PM. Zán will also be a guest of the so called “Red Coach” of the Swiss Reformed churches at Shillerplatz on 4 June at 6 PM.

I am who I am - Interactive self-awareness exhibition

The Reformed University Chaplaincy will provide a large scale contribution in form of an interactive exhibition.

The main task of teenagers and young adults is to find themselves – this is the basic concept our exhibition relies on. In a labyrinth composed of nine different pathways visitors can discover nine topics related to their identity, e.g. group identity or the boundaries of an identity. The exhibition is interactive in its genre because, instead of giving answers, it aims to raise questions and to ’start a conversation’ with the visitor through thought-provoking pictures, tasks and games.

The exhibition has seen a wide range of visitors in several cities in and outside Hungary since its first opening almost two years before. It was first presented at the Starpoint Youth Festival of the Reformed Church in Hungary in 2013. We are glad that we can present it in German language to the wide public of the Kirchentag in Stuttgart. The exhibition will take place in the Haus der Wirtschaft, 1st floor, Meidinger Hall, (No. 19 Willi-Bleicher street), and will be open for visitors from Thursday, June 4th to Saturday, June 7th between 10:30 am and 6 pm.
