Donation Campaign Finishes in June
2018. június 20., szerdaTill the end of June we can still support the Syrian children who are living under difficult circumstances - even with the price of a scoop of ice-cream - reads in the final call for donations of the Church Aid.
The donation campaign of the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid (HRCA) was launched last November. This month the Hungarian Reformed church members still have the oppotunity to support the Sunday School Program in Syria.
The HRCA joined the HEKS/EPER and FMEEC collaboration in support of the Sunday school project in Syria. In light of the recent partnership, a communications campaign was launched to invite Reformed congregations to dedicate an offering to the Reformed communities in the Middle East.
Back in April, Rev. István Szabó, the Presiding Bishop of the Reformed Church in Hungary, accompanied the Hungarian Minister of Justice on his official visit to Jordan. During the visit, the Bishop met with various Christian communities in Jordan, including Latin Patriarch Emeritus of Jerusalem, Fouad Twal. The Bishop also visited refugee camps and upon his return he shared his impressions in an interview where he also talked about the RCH’s commitment in the Middle-East, urging congregations to express their solidarity in supporting the Sunday School project of the HRCA financially.
Just think about how much a scoop of ice-cream costs? Imagine how much you would spend if you bought 4-5 scoops of ice-cream in every weekend for a month? If the congregations that received generous supports from the government last year, would offer this amount of money as donation to the HRCA, even our fundraising goal of 5 000 000 HUF could be exceeed. That is how simple it is!- said the Bishop
